School Advisory Council

St Patrick's School Advisory Council brings together in a spirit of co-operation, the Parish Priest, Principal, representatives of parents, teachers and other groups involved with education in the parish and school so that responsible informed advice can be given to the Canonical Administrator and Principal. The SAC aims to support the school in providing an environment based on the Gospel values of a Christian Community and in facilitating encounters between God and the child.
The  functions of the SAC are:
  • Assisting in the formulation and review of school policies
  • Assisting in the preparation and monitoring of the school budget
  • Supporting the school in practical ways such as ensuring that the school facilities and   equipment are maintained
  • Planning for the future
  • Developing school/community relationships and encouraging home/school interaction
  • Developing strategies for the local promotion of Catholic Education
  • Giving a brief report to the school and parish community of the SAC's major developments  and initiatives each December
  • Placing significant SAC decisions on the Parish Bulletin and School Newsletter
  • Investigating ways of promoting the personal development of SAC Members e.g. - pertinent  printed and audio-visual workshops; diocesan and zone sponsored workshops; Parent  Assemblies; Guest Speakers
  • Investigating a long-term plan for the SAC by consulting resource people and current  planning models
